The species-appropriate nutrition of cats is a crucial component for a long and vital life of our feline friends. Equally important are cat-friendly housing, regular health care, and responsible breeding. At Mifuma, we know: Only the interplay of all these aspects ensures that cats can lead a vital life.
Why the right cat food is so important
Cats are true gourmets and have high demands on their diet. A balanced diet tailored to their needs not only supports vitality but also the immune system, coat, digestion, and muscle development. For this reason, we at Mifuma have developed two high-quality dry food varieties for cats that are both nutritionally well thought out and practical for everyday use: Vital Adult Premium and Vital Adult Eco.
Vital Adult Premium – For the highest demands on quality and taste
Our food variety Vital Adult Premium was specially designed for demanding cats. The recipe combines tender chicken meat (32%) with easily digestible, gluten-free rice (10%) and thus provides a high-quality protein source. The addition of salmon oil supports the coat structure, while essential amino acids promote keratin formation and a shiny coat.
Further advantages at a glance:
- Organically bound trace elements strengthen the immune system
- Inulin and high-quality fibers promote a healthy intestinal flora
- High digestibility due to selected ingredients
- Ideal as a complete food for adult cats
This premium variety is ideal for cat owners who value the best ingredients.
Vital Adult Eco – The price-performance miracle for active cats
Vital Adult Eco is the smart choice for anyone looking for a high-quality yet affordable complete cat food. It provides plenty of energy and supports the muscle and nervous system. The combination of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids ensures a shiny coat and healthy skin.
What distinguishes Vital Adult Eco:
- With high-quality chicken protein
- Brewer's yeast for stable digestion
- Taurine to prevent deficiencies
- Support in hairball formation
Vital Adult Eco combines nutritional expertise with a strong price-performance ratio – ideal for everyday use.

Genetics, health care & responsibility when buying a cat
A healthy diet alone is not enough. Anyone who decides on a kitten should also pay attention to responsible breeding when buying. On social media, you often see pedigree cats that are taken from their mother far too early, unvaccinated, and sick. It quickly becomes apparent that the animals come from dubious breeders and not from real breeders. A real breeder conducts health checks and genetic tests, ensures animals are free from hereditary diseases with a pedigree, and gives kittens vaccinated, dewormed, and vet-checked. In addition, the kittens have enough time to socialize and are not given away under 12 weeks. In contrast, breeders often forgo veterinary care, which can lead to massive health problems in young animals, and give the kittens away far too early. Cheap prices should always be a warning signal – because they often stand for animal suffering in the background. Do not support dubious sources. Those who buy responsibly actively contribute to animal welfare.
For a healthy cat life, more than just food is needed – but the right food is a good start.
Single or pair housing of cats – What is better?
Anyone who wants to get a cat faces the decision of whether it should be a pedigree cat or a mix, as well as the decision of single or pair housing. This is regularly discussed among owners and experts: Whether cats should be kept alone or in pairs depends heavily on the individual animal and the form of housing. Basically, cats are solitary hunters, but they are not true loners. Especially with early imprinting, they benefit significantly from a social partner: Playing, grooming, and cuddling together strengthen well-being and promote social behavior. Especially in pure indoor housing, keeping in pairs prevents boredom and resulting behavioral problems such as uncleanliness or aggression.
At the same time, it should be noted that not every cat is sociable – some animals do not want conspecifics nearby, especially if they have had bad experiences or were socialized late. Keeping two cats also requires more space, patience in introducing them, and can cause double veterinary and food costs.
Anyone who wants to offer a cat a species-appropriate environment should – especially with indoor cats – consider pair housing. However, the individual nature of the animals and a careful introduction in new socializations are always decisive.
Responsible handling of outdoor cats: Take bird protection seriously
Outdoor cats enjoy a lot of freedom – but their hunting instinct poses a threat to native bird species. Especially during the breeding season (March to June), they kill many young birds and breeding adult birds. Nature conservation associations therefore recommend keeping cats indoors as much as possible during this time or limiting their outdoor access.
Possible measures:
- Let them out only at certain times of the day (e.g., not in the early morning hours)
- Use bells or special bird protection collars
- Create alternatives such as secured outdoor enclosures
Species-appropriate housing also means taking our native wildlife into account – cat owners have an important responsibility here.
