Ready for takeoff into the 2023 racing pigeon season
February is already here. The rest period is over, and with it the time for reduced nutrient feeding. For all racing pigeon fanciers, this means one thing: it is time to plan the feeding concept for the racing team. At Mifuma, we support this with our feeding concepts, where we explain the recommended use of our pigeon feeds. In addition, we asked well known breeders how they use Mifuma pigeon feed in practice, and they shared some valuable tips.
The racing feeding plan, energy and endurance through high fat components
During demanding races, pigeons need sufficient energy to perform at their best. A large part of this energy comes from fat rich feed. That is why our three racing feeds Relax, Energy, and Power-Mix contain ingredients such as safflower, hemp, Perilla, and the particularly rich Top Mais. With a fat content of 8 percent, Top Mais provides twice as much fat as conventional maize. In this feeding plan, the energy level is gradually increased towards the end of the week, so that the pigeons are in top condition on race day and can rely on their energy reserves. When feeding Power-Mix throughout the entire week, as practiced by Alfred Berger, paddy rice can be added depending on the day of the week and the intensity of the race.
New in the Mifuma pigeon range, Elite Racing in cooperation with Robert Maaß
This year introduces a new product for racing pigeon enthusiasts. Elite Racing, developed in cooperation with top breeder and dedicated Mifuma user Robert Maaß. This all in one feed for the entire week removes the need to mix and weigh individual components. Its composition already includes a high proportion of hemp and energy rich Top Mais. It is also the only feed in the range that already contains Aktiv Perle. Robert Maaß successfully used this mixture in the previous season, achieving top results including first place in the Aktion Mensch race, first place in the RV championship, and leading positions in both the regional association and the club.
For breeders with their own ideas
Breeders who prefer to create their own feeding plans will find additional options in the Mifuma pigeon range. One example is Triumph, an energy rich, small grain mixture that helps replenish energy reserves after races. Milk thistle seeds support liver function and regeneration. Another option is Grand Prix, a versatile racing feed with easily digestible Power-Erbsen. It is especially suitable for midweek feeding and is popular among breeders who value legumes as a protein source.
L-Carnitine as the finishing touch
For an additional boost, we recommend Aktiv Perle. These small pelleted grains contain added L-Carnitine and support long lasting form, faster recovery, and strong motivation in pigeons, including hens and young birds.
What makes Mifuma pigeon feed special
Not only exclusive components such as Perlen, Top Mais, and Power-Erbsen make Mifuma pigeon feed unique. We deliberately avoid adding oils to bind dust and instead offer natural, untreated, and germinable mixtures. To ensure sufficient fiber intake, our feeds contain wheat and barley. This also provides a practical indicator, if barley remains in the trough, the pigeons are well fed and ready for the race.
Successful breeders share their concepts
If you have not yet found your ideal feeding strategy, you can gain inspiration from our reference breeders. From Alfred Berger to Klaus Steinbrink, experienced fanciers share their approaches and insights in short interviews.
As always, you can find all information about our feeding concepts and the full Mifuma pigeon feed range in our current program.
We wish you every success for the upcoming racing season and good luck in every race.
