Having been born into bird breeding, my father and I decided to start breeding pigeons in 1982. We immediately chose the beautiful Modena breed, which looks like a soccer ball. In 1984, we exhibited for the first time at the Modena Special Show in Reichertshofen.
What fascinates me about breeding is how targeted mating can further develop the breed and how knowledge of genetics, especially with regard to the variety of colors in our Modenas, can also have a targeted influence here. When it comes to feed, I value a balanced basic supply as well as cleanliness and germination capacity. By regularly feeding germinated feed, I can immediately see if the quality is not right! This confirms my decision to stick with the Mifuma brand. I feed my pigeons the feed mixtures Klassik Milo Vital and Kalifornien, supplementing these with barley, wheat, and oats. We feed these mixtures because they provide a balanced basic diet for the pigeons.
The greatest success was definitely the VDT Champion 2018, or rather at the VDT show in Kassel in January 2019. Several champions at the Modena main special shows and numerous German and Bavarian championships are among the successes.
