For almost six decades, Lothar Hüttmann has been passionately devoted to pigeon breeding. His favorite breed is the white Danzig high flyers, which have accompanied and fascinated him for many years.
“I have been enthusiastic about breeding small animals, and especially purebred pigeons, since I was a child. When I am in the pigeon loft watching the birds, I forget everything around me. It is a place where I can switch off,” says Hüttmann.
He leaves nothing to chance when it comes to feeding, either. His breeding pairs receive Mifuma Kurzschnäbler Premium and cut barley in a ratio of about 2:1. He adjusts this mixture depending on the season and breeding phase – whether it's breeding season, moulting, exhibition time, or winter rest. He also adds around 5% Vital Perle to ensure his pigeons are supplied with important vitamins and minerals. “This ensures that my animals are optimally nourished without any additional expense,” he explains.
His success proves him right: six German championships, one European championship title, and two European champion titles testify to the quality of his breeding and the passion with which he keeps his animals.
