“I started breeding poultry in 1979 – initially with chickens,” says Markus Schlangenotto. “In 1988, I discovered my passion for carrier pigeons, and in 1998, the first yellow field color pigeons with white bands moved into my loft.”
Over the years, his breeding program has continued to evolve. “Gradually, new color varieties and breeds were added,” he reports. “Today, I have field-colored pigeons in six colors, Dutch high-flyers, the so-called chimney sweeps, West of England tumblers, Danish tumblers, exhibition homers, show pigeons, and, for the past four years, carrier pigeons again.”
Schlangenotto has also made a name for himself as a judge. “My greatest successes include the 2019 Golden Winner Ring for West of England Tumblers, numerous VDT honorary ribbons, winner ribbons, and SV honorary ribbons,” he says proudly. “In addition, I have won titles as German Champion, European Champion, and European Champion. These are awards that show that passion and consistency in breeding really pay off.”
When it comes to feed, he has relied on quality for decades: "I have been feeding Klassik Mais Vital since the beginning. It is important to me to have a balanced diet that meets my pigeons' needs without lots of additives. The Vital Perle it contains provides my pigeons with an optimal supply of vitamins and minerals.“ He also uses Vital Power Stone and Vital Power Grit. ”This combination supports the breeding, moulting, and health of my animals – and ensures that they remain powerful and vital."
