Michael and Wolfgang Hornung have been successful breeders of purebred pigeons for many years. They started breeding in 1990, when Michael acquired a pair of German Modenesers for his bantams – and these have shaped their breeding ever since. They have enjoyed particular success with the black-tiger Modenese pigeons, which they have been keeping since 2006, winning titles such as German Champion, Blue Ribbon of Hanover, Federal Champion, VDT Champion Contender, and numerous honorary ribbons. The basis for these achievements is a balanced diet of Kurzschnäbler Premium, Vollkraft Perle, and regional wheat. “We value high quality, and Mifuma has never disappointed us in that regard,” explains Wolfgang Hornung. This year, Josef, their 9-year-old son and grandson, has also joined the breeding program with yellow-fawn Modenese rabbits and is continuing the tradition.
