Groundbreaking for new feed mill in Ichenhausen.

The starting signal for the new construction at our location in Ichenhausen has been given. On May 6, precisely at 3:15 PM, the groundbreaking ceremony took place. Present on site were, in addition to the district administrator of the Günzburg district Dr. Hans Reichhart (District Administrator of Günzburg District) and the mayor of Ichenhausen Robert Strobel, also from the construction management Harald Zacher from the company Abenstein and our managing director Jürgen Vedder. From now on, the construction work will be taken over by the responsible specialist companies. The new building is estimated to take about 18 months. We will keep you updated on the progress of the construction.

Increased Demand for Hafner Feed in Conventional and Organic Quality

The products of our brand Hafner Feed are manufactured in conventional and organic quality at the Ichenhausen location. The focus is on dairy performance feed, with which we supply dairy farmers in southern Bavaria, southern Baden-Württemberg, and also in Austria. Almost exclusively silo goods are produced, which the company's own fleet delivers to the farmer.

To meet the increasing market demand, we are modernizing the compound feed production and building another new, state-of-the-art plant. At the same time, conventional and organic feed production will in the future take place entirely spatially separated in two building complexes. "After a long planning phase, it is finally time: The new construction begins. This allows us to further expand our location in Ichenhausen and respond even better to the high demand for feed in organic and conventional quality," says Jürgen Vedder, Managing Director of Mischfutter Werke Mannheim GmbH.

Sustainability as an Important Factor in Construction and Production Work

Energy efficiency is an important factor in the construction of the new plant. The entire construction process relies on the latest plant technology. For example, all drive motors are exclusively energy-saving motors of class IE4. This ensures that almost no emissions will be generated in the later production process. Of course, an energy management system will also be installed. For the construction of the plant, we rely on regional specialist companies.

The new plant is expected to be put into operation in the fall of 2022. Organic feed will then be produced exclusively in the existing plant. The new building, with a construction sum of approximately 7 million euros, is intended exclusively for conventional production. This will allow us to meet the increasing demand for organic feed and feed in general from the region. At the same time, we are further strengthening the Ichenhausen location and expanding the organic segment, in addition to the pure production of dairy performance feed, to include the production of poultry and pig feed.

Hafner Feed, Part of Mischfutter Werke Mannheim GmbH for More Than Four Years

In 2017, we acquired the Schwäbische Kraftfutterfabrik Hans Hafner GmbH. The takeover of the family business founded in 1936 secured the continued existence of the Ichenhausen location and the then 17 employees. In the meantime, 23 employees work at this plant.

For us, the acquisition of the Schwäbische Kraftfutterfabrik Hans Hafner GmbH was another opportunity to grow. The decision was based on the competence in regional dairy performance feed and organic feed production. We are further expanding this with the new construction in Ichenhausen.
