"The little ones grow up so fast" – what is often said in everyday life also applies to our young poultry. Hardly hatched, the chicks quickly develop into stately young animals. By now, at the latest, the right time has come to switch feeding to pullet or cockerel feed.
Because hens and roosters have different needs: For good laying performance, slow, healthy growth is crucial for hens. Roosters, on the other hand, need a nutrient-rich feed that specifically supports muscle growth and the development of typical breed characteristics – especially important if they are to score later at exhibitions and shows.
1. Separate hens and roosters early
From the 9th week of life, we recommend feeding with specially tailored feed types – e.g., Junghennen Premium Mash or Pellet or the Mifuma Junghähne Premium Pellet. The prerequisite for this is the separation into a hen and a rooster group so that each animal can be specifically cared for.
2. Maintain feed form
Young animals are accustomed to a certain feed form – whether mash or pellet. To avoid irritations such as feed refusal or malnutrition, the form should be maintained in the follow-up feed. Therefore, we offer the pullet feed, for example, in both variants. A slow transition over about two weeks – by mixing chick and young animal feed – additionally facilitates acclimatization.
3. Pullet feed – what's inside
Young hens need a balanced nutrient supply during the development phase until they are ready to lay. Junghennen Premium Pellet or Mash provides all important minerals and vitamins, supports even growth without encouraging premature laying. Our proven herbal complex additionally supports the immune system and promotes the vitality of the animals.
4. Cockerel feed – targeted for muscle building
Cockerels have different requirements: From the 9th week, they need more energy and protein for optimal muscle and bone development. The Junghähne Premium Pellet contains specifically adjusted amounts of minerals, amino acids, and fatty acids – for a strong body structure and a shiny, dense plumage. If you prefer to feed your cockerels a mash feed, we recommend giving the Kükenstarter Premium. The chick starter has a high content of energy, amino acids, and proteins, optimally supporting robust growth and the development of strong plumage.
5. Coccidiosis management – but naturally
Those who want to rely on natural coccidiosis management should best choose Küken- und Junghennen-Aufzucht. The crumb structure combines the advantages of mash and pellet and is very well accepted by the animals. This feed can be fed continuously from the 1st week of life until laying maturity or until the exhibition season. The included additive complex has a prebiotic and antibacterial effect, strengthens intestinal health, and supports the immune system – all without medicinal additives.
