Springtime is chick time

Chicks need the right feed from the very first day of life. This lays the foundation for a successful poultry life, as only healthy and fast-growing chicks and young birds will develop into high-quality breeding and show animals.

Healthy and well-nourished parent stock is, of course, the essential prerequisite for high hatch rates with well-developed chicks. For feeding during the first three weeks, we recommend Kükenstarter Premium for large breeds. This mash feed promotes rapid development through quick feed intake and a high content of energy, amino acids and vitamins.

For small and medium breeds, as well as for large breeds from the 4th week of life, Kükenaufzucht Premium is used, either as mash or 2 mm pellets. Its high-quality components, enriched with vitamins and minerals, support healthy growth and also help colourful breeds thrive. When changing feed, it is recommended to mix the feeds for a few days to avoid putting too much strain on the young animals’ digestive system.

Another option is Küken- und Junghennen-Aufzucht. This crumble feed can be fed from the 1st week of life until laying or show maturity and supports natural coccidiosis management.

From the 9th week of life, hens and cockerels can be separated to allow targeted feeding and development for breeding or show purposes. Breeders aiming for slower development of pullets can switch to Junghennen Premium pellets or mash. This feed helps prevent premature onset of laying and provides additional support through its herbal complex.

For young cockerels, Junghähne Premium pellets are used from the 9th week, or alternatively Kükenstarter Premium mash if a mash feed is preferred. This feed provides the necessary energy as well as essential minerals and amino acids for excellent feathering and strong muscle development.
